What's On Now
AMS

Each year, we close the Cable Car for essential inspections and maintenance to keep everything safe and running smoothly. This year’s shutdown will run for three weeks, from Monday 21 July to Sunday 10 August.

Why longer than usual? Our current Cars have been in service since 1979, and to ensure we are doing all we can to extend their life, in addition to the regular maintenance, Car 2 will be getting a facelift with essential panel repairs.

We're using this extended shutdown as a chance to complete additional upgrades and improvements, including:

  • Installation of new entry and exit gates at Lambton Terminal
  • Restored seating in Car 2
  • Painting at Salamanca Station

Operations will resume from 7:30am on Monday 11 August. If anything changes, we’ll send out a text alert. If you are not signed up already, you can add yourself here.

To celebrate the twenty-year anniversary of the release of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Wētā Workshop has delved into the archives and dusted off some of their most precious props, costumes, and armour from the original films.

Take yourself on a journey through Middle-Earth, Wellington to find some of the iconic pieces starting with our third-aged elf and Royal Guard of Rohan located in the Kelburn terminal.
