‘Move it, move it’ to the Cable Car this Easter to help the Easter Bunny find the lost eggs.

The Easter Bunny has lost his Eggs at the Cable Car while showing around new lemur friends including A-lister King Julien. In the hopes of finding and reclaiming these eggs, join us on a wild adventure with the Easter Bunny and King Julien to help find these lost eggs.

To officially enter the hunt, download and print from here or simply pick up your counting sheet from our ticket box. Remember BYO pen! Locate the eggs in the terminals and from the safety of the Cable Cars. Count the number of eggs you see and fill out the entry form. Hand it into the ticket box or to your driver.

There is no limit to how many times you wish to enter. We will be handing out Easter treaties during the Easter weekend, however, these will be limited to availability.

The Easter Egg hunt runs from Good Friday (29th March) through to Easter Monday (1 April). Winners of prizes will be contacted via email on Wednesday 3rd of April. A Big thank you goes out to Wellington Zoo for donating prizes.

Run

We are running up that hill for the Faultline Ultra.

Distances you can enter range from 6km through to 162km. If you're someone who is new to running but wants to challenge yourself to do something a little bit different, take on the 6km or 11km to have a journey up the hill on the Cable Car included in your race.

The Cable Car will be opening early on Sunday the 21st of April for the 6km and 11km from 7.30am to support the event.

Lights

Bundle up, rally your friends, whānau, or that special someone and experience the Wellington Botanic Garden ki Paekākā like never before with Light Cycles.

Journey up on the Cable Car and as night falls connect with nature through dazzling light installations, soundscapes, and digital art as you walk through the gardens.

This event is exclusive to Wellington and will run from Saturday 11 May - Sunday 9 June.

For more information about the event, click here. Light Cycles is created by Moment Factory and brought to you by Aotearoa New Zealand Festival of the Arts.

Cruise ships

The cruise season has started, and we are excited to welcome travellers to experience the Wellington Cable Car. If you're a cruise passenger, please click here to find out more information.

For our locals, we've implemented measures to ensure a smooth experience for all our passengers. Between 9am and 1pm, when demand is higher, our cars may operate more than our usual 10-minute timetable.

There are only two cruise ships scheduled for the month of April.

  • Tuesday 9th of April
  • Monday 15th of April

Plan ahead of time to avoid queues.
