Each car accommodates 30 seated and 30 standing, with landings for prams and wheelchairs.

At the top, you’ll find the incredibly scenic Kelburn Terminal, offering sublime views of Wellington’s harbour and cityscape.
This backdrop is perfect for photos and creating lasting memories. The terminal’s modern design provides a timeless ambience, ideal for various events. Imagine saying your vows with Wellington’s breathtaking skyline and lush greenery as your backdrop—perfect for creating a truly memorable ceremony.
The terminal features access ramps and flexible seating options, making it suitable for workshops, staff functions, birthdays or intimate celebrations up to 40 people comfortably.

Please note that hiring during peak cruise season (October to March) can be challenging due to high demand.
Paid parking is available outside Kelburn Terminal.
Accessible power ports are available throughout Kelburn Terminal.
Our venue is best suited for ceremonies rather than receptions. You will need to arrange your own catering, furniture, and sound system. We don’t provide sit-down or a la carte options, but we can recommend caterers. The nearby Cable Top Eatery is ideal for receptions and offers a range of catering options.

We booked a couple of cable cars with Wellington Cable Car to transport our wedding guests from our ceremony in the Botanic Gardens down to Lambton Quay, and it was such a fun and uniquely Wellington experience.
Working with Lara was fantastic. She was incredibly helpful and organised, especially given that our wedding day happened to fall on the same day as one of the biggest cruise ship visits of the year. She arranged for us to have a separate entrance away from the general public, which made everything feel seamless and stress-free for both us and our guests.
One of the most memorable moments was arriving at the bottom terminal to a crowd of people cheering as they waited for their turn - it felt so special and added such an unexpected, joyful energy to the day. We also loved that we were able to customise the tunnel lights.
It’s an experience we’ll never forget and something that made our wedding day feel so distinctly “Wellington.”
